JOB INTERVIEW DO'S & DON'TS
DO:
-
arrive early for all interviews
-
be positive and enthusiastic, smile often
-
dress appropriately. No jeans, shorts, hats, etc.
-
be prepared. Know your resume and your references
-
show interest in the company, ask questions
-
talk about your successes, not your failures
-
focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses
-
be polite and professional no matter how difficult the interview
-
demonstrate good body language (handshake, eye contact, posture, etc.)
-
remember the interviewer's name
-
be relaxed and friendly, but not too casual or chummy
-
listen carefully
-
thank the interviewer when it is over and give a firm handshake
DON'T:
-
bring up money issues at the first interview
-
lie or exaggerate about skills or experience
-
talk poorly about
present or previous employers

smoke or chew gum, even if your interviewer does
-
drink alcoholic beverages under ANY circumstances during your interview
-
undersell yourself
-
worry if you don't get the first job for which you interview. This is
